Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Sports Academy Outreach Initiative’
A comprehensive project where the student collaborates with local sports academies to deliver coaching clinics and life coaching sessions. The focus is on unlocking potential in underprivileged youth through sports and education.
Components:
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Community Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m really into being an educational consultant at a sports academy and I’m pretty awesome at coaching and building strategic teams. So, I’ve decided to take on a project as a life coach to help others find their inner strength. My goal is to use education and hard work to uplift those who don’t have many chances in life..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – Technology Student Association focuses on technical skills, leadership, and project-based competitions that help in building strategic, consensus-oriented team projects.
FCCLA – Family, Career and Community Leaders of America promotes leadership, community service, and personal development, aligning well with educational consulting and life coaching objectives.
Competitions
This introductory competition is ideal as it builds foundational communication, digital production, and storytelling skills essential for a sports outreach initiative. It allows the student to creatively integrate sports narratives and outreach themes in a teen-friendly format.
FCCLA – Culinary Arts Showcase
This introductory competition aligns with FCCLA principles by emphasizing consumer science and nutrition. It allows integration of healthy sports nutrition themes, fostering an understanding of food and wellness, which ties into the outreach initiative.
This advanced TSA competition pushes for innovation and application of engineering skills. It is well-suited to leveraging project management and design principles to inspire creative solutions that could support sports facilities or community events.
This advanced competition challenges students to develop a comprehensive business plan for consumer products, such as a sports nutrition product. It ties in advanced consumer science with market analysis, perfectly complementing the outreach initiative.
Community Service:
Local Sports Outreach Clinic
Why it fits: This community service initiative leverages the skills learned in both TSA and FCCLA competitions. It directly impacts the local youth in zip code 30319 by providing free sports clinics, promoting physical activity and teamwork.
Implementation: Coordinate with local community centers in 30319 to set dates for free sports clinics. Recruit volunteers, secure a venue, and prepare sports drills and educational segments on nutrition and teamwork.
Skills Development: Leadership, community engagement, event planning, teamwork
