Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Sustainable Community Design Initiative’

Develop a community center design project that integrates sustainable architecture with technology-driven solutions. The initiative will involve designing structures that are energy-efficient and equitable, while also incorporating financial literacy workshops for community members.

Components:

Architectural design

Sustainable material research

Technology integration (smart building systems)

Community outreach workshops

Financial literacy modules.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
  2. I’m really into architectural engineering and I’m pretty good at designing cool, green buildings. So, I thought why not use these skills to start a tech project that can solve real-world problems? This way, I can also help people understand money matters better and fight for fair economics..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

TSA – The Technology Student Association (TSA) focuses on technology, engineering, and design, offering competitions and projects that encourage innovative solutions and teamwork. It is the primary CTSO for students in tech entrepreneurship and design.

FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) fosters business acumen, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial thinking. It is well-suited for students focused on advocating for economic justice and financial literacy.

Competitions

TSA – Architectural DesignThis introductory competition fosters design and planning skills crucial for sustainable community projects, encouraging creative solutions in architectural design and sustainable practices.

FBLA – Community Service Project

This introductory competition is ideal for learning project management and community engagement by developing a service project that directly supports sustainable community initiatives.

TSA – Software DevelopmentThis introductory competition enhances digital skills and fosters innovation, providing an opportunity to develop a tool (such as an app or website) that promotes community sustainability and engagement.

HOSA – Public Service AnnouncementThis introductory competition builds communication and media production skills, enabling the student to create an impactful message that raises awareness about environmental and community health issues.

Community Service:

Green Space Revitalization Initiative

Why it fits: The initiative aligns with the sustainable community design focus by transforming local areas into eco-friendly, functional green spaces, thereby promoting environmental stewardship and community well-being.

Implementation: Plan and execute a series of community clean-up events, native planting sessions, and educational workshops in zip code 30032. Collaborate with local schools and community organizations for broader impact.

Skills Development: Leadership, organization, community engagement, environmental awareness
