Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Art Therapy & Financial Wellness Initiative’
A project that offers art therapy workshops combined with financial literacy classes aimed at empowering homeless individuals and alleviating academic pressure.
Components
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Stylish Thinker’ personality type person with strong ‘trailblazer’ business potential.
- I’m using my passion for tutoring and dance, and my skills as an academic counselor, to work on a cool project as an art therapist. I’m focusing on mental health and the stress of school. My goal? To use this to help homeless people get smart about money and education..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – Technology Student Association provides opportunities in project design, risk management, and structured competitions, complementing the student’s analytical and administrative strengths.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America offers exposure to business practices, leadership, and networking, aligning well with the project’s focus on financial literacy and administrative skills.
Competitions
This introductory competition encourages creative storytelling via audio, aligning with the art therapy aspect. It also emphasizes communication skills critical for financial wellness messaging.
FBLA – Personal Financial Literacy
This introductory competition targets financial basics and budgeting which is pivotal for the financial wellness component of the initiative. It builds a foundation in financial concepts while being teen-friendly.
As an advanced competition, it allows students to develop a comprehensive plan that can integrate aspects of art therapy and financial wellness, tying together creative concepts with business strategy.
This competition, while typically introductory, can be adapted in Year 2 to focus on creating an interactive digital tool or app that supports art therapy techniques and financial education, thus merging technology with creative wellness.
Community Service:
Art Therapy & Financial Wellness Community Workshop
Why it fits: This activity transforms competition skills into real-world impact by offering hands-on workshops that combine creative art therapy sessions with financial literacy training. It is particularly tailored for the local community in zip code 30084.
Implementation: Plan and schedule the workshop during the Spring semester of Year 1. Collaborate with community centers, local artists, and financial advisors to design interactive sessions. Use feedback to refine the workshop for future events.
Skills Development: Public speaking, event planning, community engagement, creative art skills, financial planning
