Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Community Fitness and Wellness Catalyst’
A comprehensive program that designs and implements physical fitness initiatives for disadvantaged neighborhoods, integrating health education and fitness coaching.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Reflective Thinker’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m super passionate about fighting for equal opportunities and using film to make a difference. I’m also really good at being a fitness coach, with some cool knowledge on medical stuff and dog care. So, I’ve decided to put these together and create fitness programs for communities who need it most, hoping it can help level the playing field and even create some jobs through sports..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
DECA – A CTSO focused on marketing, management, and entrepreneurship, perfect for students interested in developing business and leadership skills in competitive environments.
FBLA – A CTSO that provides opportunities in business and competitive events, helping students hone skills in administration, leadership, and communication.
Competitions
This introductory competition helps develop foundational business planning and innovative thinking skills which are essential for launching a community wellness initiative.
TSA – TSA Audio Podcasting
This introductory competition builds digital storytelling and communication skills to effectively promote wellness narratives and engage community members.
This advanced competition pushes students to develop a comprehensive business plan, which is ideal for scaling and sustaining a community wellness project.
This advanced competition leverages technical skills to create digital solutions, such as a prototype app or website, to support community engagement and wellness tracking.
Community Service:
Community Wellness Fair
Why it fits: This activity directly promotes local health and wellness by connecting residents with fitness resources and health education, aligning with the passion project’s mission.
Implementation: Organize workshops, fitness sessions, health screenings, and interactive booths in a community center or local park in zip code 30075, collaborating with local gyms, wellness centers, and health professionals.
Skills Development: Event planning, communication, leadership, community engagement
