Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Community Health Storytelling’
A project where the student produces interviews and narratives highlighting mental health and gender equality within marginalized communities, showcasing real-life stories of resilience and advocacy.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Community Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘trailblazer’ business potential.
- I’m really passionate about public health, especially mental health and gender equality, so I’m using my skills as an advocate to work on a project as a social worker for underprivileged communities. My goal is to make the medical field more understanding, safe, and fair for everyone..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
DECA – A CTSO focused on marketing, business management, and leadership that enhances communication, strategic thinking, and detail review skills, making it an ideal foundational choice.
FBLA – A CTSO that further develops business and communication skills through competitions and practical challenges, complementing the student’s inherent abilities in verbal communication and interpersonal networking.
Competitions
This introductory competition fits because it emphasizes creative communication and persuasive messaging, essential for crafting compelling community health stories.
FBLA – Community Service Project
This introductory competition is directly aligned with community engagement; it allows the student to document and present a project that addresses local health concerns through storytelling.
This advanced competition enables the student to develop a comprehensive plan for scaling the Community Health Storytelling project, integrating learned skills from earlier competitions.
As an advanced competition, it challenges the student to demonstrate leadership and innovation, ideal for refining a long-term community health storytelling initiative.
Community Service:
Community Health Storytelling Fair
Why it fits: This activity directly supports the passion project by engaging local community members in sharing their health narratives, and it leverages skills acquired through the competitions.
Implementation: Student will collaborate with local community centers, schools, and health clinics in the 30067 area to organize interviews, interactive exhibits, and storytelling workshops, with the fair scheduled for the Spring semester to allow ample preparation.
Skills Development: Event planning, community engagement, storytelling, public speaking
