Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Empathy-Driven Game Jam’
Organize a collaborative game jam that brings together student designers to create video games centered around social justice, empathy, and human rights issues.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m super into creating video games that make people think about fairness and empathy. I’m really good at designing games that mix creativity, tech, and player interaction. So, I’ve decided to work on a project advocating for human rights, focusing on global justice, especially housing equality..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – Focused on technology and applied sciences, TSA offers competitions like Video Game Design that directly align with the student’s passion for game development and advocacy through tech.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America emphasizes leadership, team collaboration, and strategic advocacy, making it an excellent fit for developing consensus and delegation skills in a social impact context.
Competitions
TSA – Video Game DesignThis introductory competition encourages students to design an E-rated video game that integrates ethical and empathy-driven narratives. It builds foundational skills in game design and technology which directly support the Empathy-Driven Game Jam project.
FBLA – Digital Animation
This introductory competition helps develop visual storytelling and animation skills that are critical for conveying empathetic narratives. The process builds artistic and technical expertise which can be directly applied to creating engaging content for the game jam.
TSA – Software DevelopmentThis introductory TSA competition focuses on building software projects with an emphasis on social or educational value, directly supporting the technical requirements of the Empathy-Driven Game Jam. It deepens coding, algorithm design, and solution testing skills.
FBLA – Computer Game & Simulation ProgrammingThis advanced FBLA competition challenges students to create a game or simulation that requires thorough technical planning and innovative design. It serves as a capstone experience that leverages skills from earlier competitions and directly aligns with the empathy-driven objectives of the game jam.
Community Service:
Empathy in Action Community Workshop
Why it fits: This community service activity aligns with the passion project by translating competition skills into real-world impact. It provides a platform for the student to engage the community with empathy training and interactive technology demonstrations.
Implementation: Planned for the Spring semester of each academic year, the student will collaborate with local community centers and non-profits in zip code 30316 to host workshops. The event will combine presentations, interactive sessions, and hands-on activities that mirror themes from their competitions.
Skills Development: Public speaking, event planning, community engagement, empathetic leadership
