Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘eSports Equity Summit’
Host an event that brings together gamers, social justice advocates, and industry professionals to discuss and promote diversity and inclusivity in eSports, using both virtual and in-person formats.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m a total whiz at gaming and solving problems, and I totally dig being a social justice warrior in the gaming world. So, I’ve decided to kick off a project advocating for social justice in eSports. My goal? To rock the scene by promoting fairness through managing kick-ass gaming events..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – Technology Student Association promotes leadership, technical skill development, and hands-on project management, making it a perfect foundational CTSO for this passion project.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America emphasizes business acumen, teamwork, and leadership skills, which support the advocacy and event management aspects of the project.
Competitions
This introductory competition builds technology, programming, and collaborative skills that are essential for developing innovative digital tools and platforms for an eSports summit.
FBLA – Business Communication
This introductory competition enhances verbal and written communication skills, essential for pitching ideas and conducting meetings related to the eSports Equity Summit.
This introductory TSA competition challenges students to integrate mechanical design with technology, fostering creativity and innovation—a natural complement to designing engaging summit experiences.
This advanced competition enables the student to develop a comprehensive business planning process, crucial for structuring and scaling the eSports Equity Summit.
Community Service:
Local Youth eSports Mentorship Program
Why it fits: This community service activity leverages the skills acquired from the competitions to promote digital literacy and equity while engaging peers in the eSports ecosystem.
Implementation: Plan and launch a mentorship program in zip code 30341 during the Spring semester; organize workshops, hands-on sessions, and mentorship opportunities in partnership with local community centers.
Skills Development: Mentorship, event planning, community engagement, digital literacy
