Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Oceanic Advocacy Data Hub’

An interactive digital platform that aggregates and analyzes data on marine conservation efforts and their socioeconomic impacts to provide evidence-based advocacy for affordable education and economic stability.

Components:

Website/dashboard development

Systematic data analysis

Structured project management

Implementation of risk management protocols

Administrative oversight.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Reflective Thinker’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
  2. I’m super passionate about marine biology, especially when it comes to protecting our oceans. I’m really good at teaching others about it and getting them as excited as I am. So, I’ve decided to start a project as a social worker to help people get the education and financial stability they need, because I believe everyone deserves a fair shot..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

SkillsUSA – A CTSO that develops technical, leadership, and project management skills, essential for executing complex projects and managing associated risks.

FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America imparts business acumen, time management, and administrative skills critical to successful project execution and advocacy efforts.

Competitions

SkillsUSA – Public SpeakingThis introductory competition fits as it builds effective communication and presentation skills essential for advocacy and digital outreach for the Oceanic Advocacy Data Hub.

TSA – Software Development

This introductory TSA competition aligns with the passion project since it builds foundational coding, problem-solving, and project management skills key to developing a digital platform for the advocacy hub.

FBLA – Website Coding & DevelopmentThis advanced FBLA competition provides an opportunity to develop a user-centric website that is central to hosting and managing the Oceanic Advocacy Data Hub, thereby enhancing technical design and execution skills.

TSA – Data Science and AnalyticsThis introductory TSA competition builds analytical skills crucial for handling, interpreting, and presenting complex data, which supports the research and advocacy components of the Oceanic Advocacy Data Hub.

Community Service:

Oceanic Clean-Up and Awareness Campaign

Why it fits: This community service activity directly supports the passion project by addressing local coastal environmental issues and engaging community members in ocean advocacy.

Implementation: Organize community beach and waterway clean-ups along with environmental awareness workshops in zip code 30294 during the Spring Semester, allowing ample time for planning and outreach.

Skills Development: Project planning, environmental stewardship, leadership
