Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Scriptwriting Workshop & Community Edutainment Festival’

A community-driven project that includes hosting scriptwriting workshops followed by a festival showcasing student-created edutainment videos on science and health topics.

Components:

Workshop planning

Curriculum development

Team delegation

Event organization

Audience engagement

Collaborative video production.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
  2. I’m super into writing funny scripts for science video games and I’m really good at it too! So, I thought, why not use this passion to make learning about science and health fun and interesting? Imagine, our video games could help make the world healthier through cool science adventures!.

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

SkillsUSA – A CTSO geared towards enhancing technical skills and leadership through competitions and community projects, perfectly aligning with hands-on learning and consensus-building in group projects.

FBLA – A CTSO focused on developing business and leadership skills. It offers practical experiences in planning, management, and team collaboration which support the project’s advocacy and community engagement goals.

Competitions

SkillsUSA – Audio Production

This introductory competition builds essential audio storytelling and multimedia production skills that align with the Scriptwriting Workshop & Community Edutainment Festival by enabling the student to craft captivating narratives and vocal performances.

TSA – Audio Podcasting

This introductory TSA competition emphasizes scriptwriting, voice acting, and narrative development, which are directly applicable to creating engaging content for a scriptwriting workshop and festival.

FBLA – Business Plan

This advanced competition is ideal for developing a comprehensive business model, which is critical for planning and executing the Scriptwriting Workshop & Community Edutainment Festival. It bridges creative arts with business acumen.

TSA – Digital Video Production

This introductory TSA competition focuses on video storytelling, a critical component for promoting and documenting the festival. It enhances skills in visual narrative and technical production which complement the scriptwriting endeavor.

Community Service:

Neighborhood Edutainment Workshop

Why it fits: This community service activity provides a platform for local teens to engage in creative media, scriptwriting, and performance arts, directly supporting the goals of the passion project while offering an opportunity to give back to the community in zip code 30319.

Implementation: Partner with local community centers and schools in the 30319 area to organize workshop sessions. Structure events to cover sessions on scriptwriting, podcast production, and video creation. Involve local mentors and media professionals to guide sessions and offer constructive feedback.

Skills Development: Community engagement, media production, public speaking
