Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Tech-Infused Documentary on Immigrant Innovation’

A documentary series that explores how immigrants use technology to overcome challenges, highlighting scientific film techniques and innovative storytelling.

Components:

Film direction

technical film production

budget management

data analytics on impact metrics

structured project administration

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Reflective Thinker’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
  2. I’m super into directing cool, tech-savvy science films and I’m pretty good at it. So, I’ve decided to mix my love for movies and tech to become a creative tech and design guru. My goal? Use my skills to change the lives of immigrants through tech and art..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

TSA (Technology Student Association) – As the primary CTSO, TSA offers hands-on technical challenges and competitions that enhance skills in project management, technical production, and procedural compliance.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) – FBLA focuses on developing leadership, administration, and business management skills, aligning well with tasks such as managing budgets and analyzing data.

Competitions

TSA – TSA Audio Podcasting

This introductory competition fits as it focuses on audio storytelling, a key element for producing a compelling tech-infused documentary on immigrant innovation.

SkillsUSA – SkillsUSA Digital Cinema Production

This introductory competition aligns with the visual storytelling component of the documentary and builds foundational filmmaking skills.

TSA – TSA On Demand Video

This advanced competition challenges the student to produce a concise, high-impact visual narrative within a tight deadline—mirroring real-world media production scenarios for documentary teasers.

SkillsUSA – SkillsUSA Entrepreneurship Competition

This advanced competition requires the development of a business or innovation plan, aligning with the need to plan sustainable project distribution and funding strategies for the documentary.

Community Service:

Local Immigrant Storytelling Workshop

Why it fits: This activity enables direct engagement with immigrant communities, providing authentic narratives and content for the documentary.

Implementation: Partner with community centers in zip code 30341 to host workshops that capture personal immigrant journeys. Organize a screening and Q&A session to integrate and reflect community feedback into the documentary.

Skills Development: Community engagement, interviewing, event planning, cultural sensitivity
